Paris -- Oct 3

We slept late. Trying to catch up and resynch our body clocks. I wake up at 10 am. I get Steve up at 11am.

We head to a place that I believe has a croque monsieur. It is very crowded and looks very chi chi. We can't get in without a reservation. So we walk down the street and find a little patisserie. Steve has an omelet and I have a Quiche Lorraine. Filling and tasty even though service is a bit slow. Or next stop is La Grande Épicerie de Paris, a gourmet shop in the neighborhood. Fun to peruse but we don't buy anything. Then we take a 20 minute stroll to The Trocadero. Very packed with tourists. We spend a few minutes getting our Eiffel Tower photos. Then we go to Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine. Very cool museum. Plaster casts of old French buildings and more. We are worn out after a few hours and head home. The sun has come out and it isn't so chilly. Walk home and rest up before dinner. I stop at a patisserie and get a Napoleon and croissants for tomorrow's breakfast.

For dinner we choose Bistrot Bleriot which is near the Seine. It's about a 10 minute walk. When we first walk in I'm not sure but it turns out to be a real jewel. The owner is also the sommelier and brings us a great wine after asking what we like. The women next to us aren't as happy with their wine and we share sips. Our meal is delicious. We start with a cassoulet of escargot. The sauce is so amazing! Steve has his duck confit with potatoes. I have a braised lamb shank with risotto. All so tasty. Been a memorable evening.

After dinner we walk to the Seine and see the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Night is mild. Great for walking home.
