Esna -- Oct 11

Quick breakfast. I try the blueberry pancakes. Then we walk to our tour of Esna's ancient temple. They are doing lots of work and it's interesting to see the scaffolding and what they are up to. The temple is interesting. Without the crowds we learn so much more. Greg makes an appearance as he can easily walk back to the ship. At least he gets to enjoy something.

Then we tackle the market. Yikes! I do buy a shirt to wear to dinner and we end up with a scarf too. How? A mystery. Both for $20. Then Steve gets a nicer scarab and we also get a cat sculpture. Now $16. We are done!

Ship pulls out right at 10am. We have a sail away cocktail on top deck and a long chat with Karoline, our hotel executive. We go to a hieroglyphic class with Hanan and learn to write our names.

Lunch is a po boy shrimp sandwich and mushroom soup.

Time to relax. Steve goes to the falafel demonstration. Then we go to tea.

Beautiful sunset on top deck.

Dinner is Egyptian night. I wear my new shirt. Molly wears her gallabiyah. Delicious spreads for apps with lots of tasty bread. The main course is a plate filled with lamb chops, chicken, beef, meatballs, and a spiced rice.

We leave early tomorrow. Got to get to bed.
